Dr. Maria Montessori
Dr. Montessori based her method on observations of children throughout the world. She observed children in diverse cultures, with different languages and varying socio-economic circumstances and from these observations found universal patterns for all children. These observations inform how we create environments that serve the needs within each stage of child development.
ASSOCIATION MONTESSORI INTERNATIONAL
AMI was founded in 1929 by Dr. Maria Montessori and her son, Mario Montessori in order to protect the integrity and name of her work. AMI has remained the only authentic authority on Montessori education and practice. Today, under the direction of Lynne Lawrence, AMI continues to support quality teacher training worldwide.
Manzanita Montessori School is a member of the Association Montessori International and intentionally selects AMI trained teachers to lead its classrooms.
